The airiness of pastels should not be confined to the stereotype of classic art. To break that mold, we’ve left the Rococo, Impressionist, and Post-Impressionist legacies behind and shifted towards the newly-iconic visuals of RPGs visuals.
You’ve already seen the impressive manga & anime brush toolboxes created in collab with Kristina Vorotnikova. But this time, we wanted to design brushes that live on the edge between functionality, fantasy aesthetics, and textural realism. Brushes that would cover as many projects as possible while remaining a stand-out piece in any illustrator’s toolkit. And this is exactly what the Pastel Dreams series has become. It includes 18 brushes that vary in textural effects, from fine lines to bold, textured marks. They precisely emulate the real-life experience of drawing with pastels, allowing for smooth blending and layering, intense coloring, and experimentation with opacity levels.
Art of the Pastel Dreams
Our inspiration came from the aesthetics of open world games and animated films, which open up the most magnificent landscapes. We weren’t sure if those scenes were actually drawn with pastels or any other medium, but we loved the idea of bringing chalky softness to modern, tech-driven projects. As a result, Pastel Dreams shines with versatility: concept art, game art & design, character design, backgrounds — not to mention personal projects and commercial uses like prints or apparel design. And while the brushes lend themselves to fantasy themes, their possibilities extend far beyond. You can use them to create portraits, landscapes, or anything else, from anime to realism and abstract art.
